MerchantOS New Version

by Ivan Stanojevic on April 24th, 2007.

The new version of MerchantOS is ready for you to try! We’ve upgraded the system with an even easier to use interface, faster operations, and more touch screen support.

What’s Changed

  • Menus help guide you as you use the system. Less hunting for functions.

No more guessing by selecting in the menus. The new tab styled menus tell you about each function before you click so you know you’re going to the right place the first time. As you become more familiar you can start using keyboard shortcuts.

  • Keyboard shortcuts help you get the job done fast!

As you learn to use the software, you can start to use keyboard shortcuts. For a complete list of shortcuts select the Help button in the menu. Characters that are underlined indicate you can trigger or move focus to the field by holding down the Alt key and then pressing the underlined key.

  • Friendly colors and a simplified layout.

We hope you like our new look and feel. It should make the application easier to use by drawing your attention to what’s important.

  • Faster overall operation of the system

We’ve made a number of improvements behind the scenes that will speed things up for you.

  • More Support for touch screens

You’ll notice many of our buttons are larger to accommodate your digits. This is the first phase in bringing complete support for touchscreen to the MerchantOS system.

  • Improved functionality for alternative browsers (We still recommend Firefox)

You can now safely checkup on your shop from a computer that doesn’t have Firefox. We now support all the most popular browsers: Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera. For maximum performance, functionality, and viewing pleasure please stick with Firefox when possible.

  • New Reports and other features added

Number of minor features you requested have also found their way into the newest version, and we are working hard to add more every day. In the new version you’ll find a new report to show employee hours for all employees at once. All new enhancements will only be found in the new version.

    Luis,
We do not currently offer a standalone version of MerchantOS. We only offer a hosted service. We can import data from your old POS (from a MySQL database) into our hosted version. If you can provide us with a text data file (tab or comma separated values) the normal charge for an import is $50. To import data from a MySQL database we would need to see the data structure and give you a custom quote.
If you have any questions visit our contact page and send us an email or give us a call.

I presently use Paygo but I am not fully functional.
I have all the inventory and purchase orders open, purchase orders closed, return purchase orders open and closed, customers.
Can you import all this into your system? Paygo uses filemaker as its engine. How long would it take. Wanting to change over to a new system soon if you give good support

I am running 4 registers but use 8 to 10 Mac computers

    Patrick,

We can import your customer and inventory records. The best way to get your data to us is in a comma separated file.

I worked with Paygo for almost a year going from 3.7 to 4. It was a nightmare and the support basically told me to go somewhere else. They did not support their label printer and I never got it to work. I never was fully functional with Paygo and was down more than I was up. I tried it for a year and still could not feel comfortable because I was left hanging so many times.
I have been with Merchantos now since mid September. It took me two weeks to learn and get up to speed. We were fully functional after two weeks. The staff has had a tremendous burden lifted off their shoulders.
The support from MerchantOS has been great.
Nice to have such a great simple plug and play package.
This is a great way to go. I just wish I could have skipped the frustration of experiencing Paygo.
Thank you MerchantOS for being available.
