All new inventory counts + looking ahead.
by Justin Laing on December 22nd, 2006.We know many of your are getting ready to count your inventory. We’ve just released a major over haul to our inventory counting feature. We hope that you are happy with the new process and that it saves you time. We’ll be adding a handy print out for those of you who don’t want to walk around with a laptop as soon as possible.
Looking ahead:
Though our plans are not set in stone here is what we plan to work on next:
Boxed Items
There are a few things that could work better with items that are boxes. For example it should be easier to create single items from boxes and vice versa. When single items that are normally ordered in boxes are added to a purchase order they should automatically convert into boxes. We should be able to make these improvements in the next few weeks.
Assemblies
As with boxed items, items that are assemblies of other items could use some streamlining.
Rental Module Improvement
Our rentals module needs some general improvements to make it more effective and easier to use.
Workorder Templates
These would allow you to create standard work orders that you could use as a base when creating new work orders.
Employee/Shop Alerts and Messages
This feature would allow you to send messages to employees. You could post messages to all employees or one employee in particular. MerchantOS could also use this feature to let you know about updates and other support related issues.
E-commerce
A number of customers have stepped up the plate and paid ahead of time for E-commerce. Thank You!! It is our hope to have E-commerce operational in the Fall of ‘07. We’ll update you on a time line for this project once we have ironed out the details.
Register / Point of Sale Speed Boost
We would like to make the register faster to use and we think we know how to do it.
Email Integration
Many people have requested the ability to email customers more easily. A big goal for us is to work on communication between you and your customers. Websites and E-commerce is part of this equation and so is email and other forms of correspondence.
Touch Screen Point of Sale
I think many shops could speed up their sales by using a touch screen at the point of sale. We will be working towards making a version of the register that requires no key board or mouse. Once we have tackled the register we’ll work on making some of the other parts of the system optimized for touch screen. Work orders and rentals come to mind for starters.
There are hundreds of other features and improvements on our list, but these are a few things that many people have requested and we think are important. Let us know what is most important to you. We prioritize our development based on your needs, so make them heard.

One of the most important things to me right now it that I need a alternate sizes for we sell a lot of things this way.
In Paygo we click on a department then item button and if the item is not a break down item it will just be added to the invoice. If it is a break down item a window pops up to give us a choice Rabbit Feed 50#, 25#,10#,5#, or 1# and we click on the appropriate choice. This is a good feature even if we have to use the mouse. I am looking to see if you have something comparable.
You have a great idea going for you…… waiting to move over to you from Paygo. Even with problems that may be abundant at times, don’t forget about good support and customer service no matter how bad or dumb we are as customers.
