What Is Sitefinder301?

Sitefinder301 uses the Open Directory Project and optionally the Internet Archive to find sites that are relevant to your niche that you may be able to buy. Many of the sites listed in the Open Directory are very old and have been abandoned by their owners. There may be owners that are willing to sell you their old sites for a real bargain. Sitefinder301 helps you find these bargains. Note: Sitefinder301 is just a research aid, I make no warranty or guarantee of any kind about it's performance or the results. Read more...

How To Use Sitefinder301

  1. Enter the URL of your niche's DMOZ / Open Directory category. For example if your category is Time Tracking Software enter this DMOZ url.
  2. Check 'Use Internet Archive To Find More Sites' if you're very patient and you want a much larger list of potential sites. This will use the Internet Archive's historical versions of your DMOZ category page to look for links that have been dropped from the category. Some DMOZ editors are more active than others at prunning their categories. Also you may be able to find domains that have expired but still hold some value.
  3. Press 'Find Sites' and watch Sitefinder301 go to work.
  4. To pause Sitefinder301 press the "Stop" button. To resume press "Continue".
  5. Sites will be displayed under 3 headings - "Live Sites", "Expired", and "Couldn't Retrieve Information". Sites listed under "Live Sites" are sorted by the last modified date (retrieved from the site itself). Some sites won't have an accurate last modified date because they are dynamicaly generated. In my experience these sites are less likely to be stale and abandoned by their owners. The sites at the top of the Live Sites list are your best bet for finding a killer deal.
Please send me a note if Sitefinder301 is not working for you.
