Gift Cards

MerchantOS provides free gift card processing with its point of sale system. To get started, we recommend looking into Ordering Gift Cards first. Also call MerchantOS at 866 554 2453 to activate the free gift card processing module on your account.

[edit] Selling A Gift Card

1. Start a new sale on the register.
2. Scan A MerchantOS printed gift card barcode. The barcode is found on the back of the card.
3. You will be prompted for the value to assign to the card. Set the value in the Amount field then press Create.
4. Any other items the customer wishes to purchase can be added to the sale as well.
5. Take Payment for the sale.

[edit] Accepting A Gift Card as Payment

1. Make a sale as you normally would then press Done/Pay.
2. Press the Gift Card button on the payment screen.
3. Scan the MerchantOS printed gift card's barcode.
4. The balance will be reduced by the value of the gift card. If the balance of the sale is greater than the value of the gift card, you will need to make an additional payment to cover the remaining amount due. If the balance of the sale is less than the value of the gift card, the gift card will still have some value which will be noted on the receipt.
