Inventory Counts

Use inventory counts to reconcile your inventory as often as you like. This function will help you determine shrinkage and correct your inventory. If you have a laptop, plug in our recommended scanner and you will be able to go around your shop to scan your items into your count.

[edit] Creating A Count
- Press Inventory then select the Inventory Counts button.
- You will see a listing of all past counts if you have any. Press the button at the top of the listing which says New Inventory Count
- You will first have to name your count. It is recommended to name your count based on the situation and time of year. For example you could name the count 'Fall 2010 Count'. Press Save after you have named your count.
[edit] Counting with your computer
This method of counting involves scanning your product's barcodes or the labels produced by MerchantOS. If there are not barcodes or labels there are other ways you can lookup your items for counting.
- In the count view verify you are on the Count tab.
- There are a several ways to locate and count items.
- Scan each item you wish to count. If you would like to count an item twice scan it twice.
- You can enter a number 1-99 after you scan an item to set that item's count. For example scan an item then type in 80 followed by enter. The last item you scanned will show a count of 80 at the top of the counted items listing.
- If you are unable to scan the item you can search for the item and select the correct item from the list.
[edit] Counting with print outs
- From the count view select the Print Item List tab.
- To print a list of items to count select one of the six buttons. You will get a list of items grouped according to what is stated on the button or you could get an un-grouped list.
- With the print out mark down the quantity of each item in the corresponding box. When you are done counting you can return to the computer and select the Print Item List tab in your counts view.
- Enter the ID from the print out. Press the tab key to quickly shift focus to the next field. Then type in the quantity you marked on the print out for that item and press enter.
[edit] Checking on missed items
Before you reconcile your inventory, you should verify you haven't missed any products.
- From the count view select the Missed tab.
- The list displays all items with inventory which are not counted. Some items you may have not counted while others may not be counted because they are missing. Any items found in this list will have no inventory adjustments occur. If you are doing a partial count of a few select items there will always be items in this list.
- You can set all items in this list to have counted be zero by pressing the Clear Missed button above the listing. This will set their inventory levels to zero when you reconcile.
- When you are sure this list is accurate, you can move to reconciling your inventory.
[edit] Reconciling your inventory
Reconciling is when you make your inventory records match what you counted. Be careful when performing this function as it will adjust your inventory records for all counted items.
- From the count view select the Reconcile tab.
- When you are certain your counts are correct press the Reconcile Inventory button.
- After reconciling visit the Shrinkage tab to view how much inventory was lost due to shrinkage.
