[edit] TSP600 Windows XP
- Unpack your receipt printer from its box and connect the power supply (in separate box) to the printer and plug it into the wall. Also connect a USB cable into the printer and an available USB port on your computer.
- Download the printer drivers from the Star Micronics website by clicking on this link http://www.starmicronics.com/drv/software/rasterdrv_2k-xp_20050328.exe. Put the drivers on your desktop. If you are using the MerchantOS recommended browser Firefox the file will be saved to your desktop by default.
- Go to your desktop and Double click on the file downloaded from above and press OK on the first prompt. Then press Extract files for installation via Windows Add Printer Wizard. Press No on the next prompt about installing a status monitor then press OK.
- With the computer turned on, turn on the printer. The found new hardware wizard will appear. Select No, not this time then press Next.
- Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and then click Next.
- Select Search for the best drivers in these locations and make sure only Include this location in the search: is checked. Then press the browse button and browse to your desktop and open the Star folder and highlight the StarRas folder and press OK. Your file path should look similar to the image below. Press Next
- Select the driver which says Star TSP643 Raster Printer then press Next.
- Press OK when prompted about the driver not being digitally signed and press Finish when the wizard is complete.
- Go to the Windows start menu and open up the control panel and go to the printer and faxes section. Right click on the Star TSP643 Raster Printer and select Properties.
- Select the Advanced tab at the top of the properties menu then select Printing Defaults. Press the Advanced... button in the lower right of the window that pops up.
- Find the Paper Size: setting in the window that pops up. Use the drop down to set the paper size to 72mm * Receipt
- Press OK then press OK again on the next window to return you to the original print properties window.
- Select the Raster Print Options tab. Set the cut action drop down to Partial Cut / Partial Cut. Also in the Cash Drawer section set the drop down for drawer one to Document Top. All other settings should remain at their default as displayed in the image below.
- Select the Device Settings tab. Set the only drop down on this tab to Full Width 72mm * Receipt.
- Go to the Firefox section to complete printer setup.

- Unpack your receipt printer from its box and connect the power supply (in separate box) to the printer and plug it into the wall. Also connect a USB cable into the printer and an available USB port on your computer.
- With the computer turned on and booted, turn on your receipt printer. Windows Vista already contains the drivers and will recognize the device installing the printer for you.
- After Vista has completed installation of the printer, go to your control panel then to the printers section. Right click on the Star TSP600 Cutter (TSP643) and select Properties from the context menu.
- Select the Advanced tab in the printer properties then press Printing Defaults in the lower left corner. In the next window that pops up press Advanced... in the lower right corner.
- In the window that pops up set the Paper Size: to 72 x Receipt' then press OK.
- Press OK on the next window to get back to the original printer properties window. Then select the Device Settings tab.
- Set FRICTION: to 72 x Receipt. Set Page Cut Type: to Partial Cut. Set Cash Drawer 1: to Open Before Printing.
- Go to the Firefox section to complete printer setup.
[edit] TSP100 Windows XP
Some customers have reported their Windows XP computer has identified the TSP100 printer without installing any drivers. This is due to your version of Windows XP being more recently released. If your computer automatically recognizes and installs the hardware you can skip to step 9.
- Unpack your receipt printer from its box and connect the power supply to the printer and plug it into the wall. Also connect the supplied USB cable into the printer and an available USB port on your computer.
- Download the printer drivers from the Star Micronics website by clicking on this link http://www.starmicronics.com/drv/software/TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP.zip. Put the drivers on your desktop. If you are using the MerchantOS recommended browser Firefox the file will be saved to your desktop by default.
- Go to your desktop and find the file you just downloaded (It is named TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP.zip). Right click on the file and select Extract All... from the context menu. Then press Next > twice. Press Finish and you will see a window pop up with the contents of the driver. You may close this window.
- With the computer turned on, turn on the printer. The found new hardware wizard will appear. Select No, not this time then press Next.
- Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and then click Next.
- Select Search for the best drivers in these locations and make sure only Include this location in the search: is checked. Then press the browse button and browse to your desktop and open the TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP folder and highlight the installset folder and press OK. Press Next
- Select the driver which says Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143) then press Next.
- Press Finish when the wizard is complete.
- Go to the Windows start menu and open up the control panel and go to the printer and faxes section. Right click on the Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143) Printer and select Properties.
- Select the Advanced tab then press Printing Defaults... in the lower left corner. In the new window that pops up select Advanced... in the lower right corner.
- Set the paper size to 72 x Receipt then press OK. Press OK on the next window to bring you back to the original printer properties window.
- Select the Device Settings tab. Set the friction drop down to 72 x Receipt. Also set both Page Cut Type and Document Cut Type to Partial Cut. Set Cash Drawer One to Open Before Printing. Note that the first setting for Cash Drawer One - Pulse Width should remain at its default of 200 milliseconds.
- Go to the Firefox section to complete printer setup.

- Download the Star Micronics TSP100 printer driver by clicking on this link http://www.starmicronics.com/drv/software/TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP.zip. Save the file to your Desktop (Default behavior for Firefox).
- Find the file named TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP.zip on your desktop. Right click on the icon and select extract from the context menu. Run through the extraction wizard leaving all settings at default to extract the contents of the file to your desktop.
- Unpack your receipt printer from its box and connect the power cable to the printer and plug it into the wall. Also connect the supplied USB cable into the printer and an available USB port on your computer.
- With the computer turned on and booted, turn on your receipt printer. The New Hardware Wizard will prompt you on how you would like to install the printer. Select Locate and install the driver software (recommended).
- Press Don't search online. Then press I don't have the disc. Show me other options.
- Press Browse my computer for driver software (Advanced). Then browse to the TSP100_PrinterDriver_2K_XP folder on your desktop. Press Next.
- After Vista has completed installation of the printer, go to your control panel then to the printers section. Right click on the Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP143) and select Properties from the context menu.
- Select the Advanced tab in the printer properties then press Printing Defaults in the lower left corner. In the next window that pops up press Advanced... in the lower right corner.
- In the window that pops up set the Paper Size: to 72 x Receipt then press OK.
- Press OK on the next window to get back to the original printer properties window. Then select the Device Settings tab.
- Set FRICTION: to 72 x Receipt. Set Page Cut Type: to Partial Cut. Set Cash Drawer 1: to Open Before Printing.
- Go to the Firefox section to complete printer setup.
[edit] TSP100 Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger
To print with OSX it requires reinstalling the print server.
- Download the following files by clicking on each link:
- Start by installing the CUPS server. Run the file named cups-1.2.12.dmg and double click on the .pkg file. You can use all the default settings to step through the entire process. You will need to type in the password for the administrative user of the computer.
- Run the file named usbtb-1.0.15.uni.dmg next. After it is mounted double click on the file named usbtb.pkg. If you are asked about searching for USBTB devices you can cancel or skip that part of the install process. Continue the rest of the process with the default settings.
- Finally run the file named starcupsdrv-2.5.0.pkg.zip. You can step through the entire process with the default settings.
- Reboot your computer.
- When the computer is done loading, turn on your receipt printer.
- From the apple menu, select system preferences then select print and fax.
- On the print and fax window press the little + to add a printer.
- Wait a while for the Printer Browser to find all possible printers.
- Highlight the printer labeled TSP100 with connection usbtb.
- In the print using drop down, select STAR (All Capitals NOT Star).
- In the model select TSP100 Cutter. Then press Add.
- Select the TSP100 with the Location set to Directly attached via usb and uncheck it for the menu column. This printer is automatically added by OSX but will not work. This will prevent you from accidentally selecting the incorrect printer.
- If you would like to make the receipt printer the default selected printer, you may do so by changing the Selected Printer in the Print Dialog: to the TSP100.
- Visit the Firefox section of the manual to complete receipt printer setup.

- Plug in the printer to the computer and a power outlet and turn it on.
- Download the Star printer Driver here Star Micronics Driver
- Run the downloaded file. It should extract into a pkg file. Run the pkg file answering okay and install to any prompts. You will need your system password to complete the install.
- Open up the System Preferences and select Printers and Fax.
- Click the + to add a printer. Highlight the TSP100 in the add printers list. The computer will then search for the appropriate driver automatically. When it has found the correct driver, you can press the add button.
