Shop Settings

Press the Admin button then press Shop Settings in the menu. If you are using a multi-shop version of MerchantOS, press Setup Shops then the pencil of the shop you would like to edit. The details tab will be selected by default. Below is a list of each field in each tab and how it affects the system.

Name 
This is your shop's name. It will be printed on receipts.
Time Zone 
All times will be displayed according to the selected time zone.

[edit] Tax Setup

Tax Category 
The selected tax category will be used by default on the register. For more information on creating tax categories, refer to the Sales Tax and Sales Tax Class sections.
Tax Labor/service 
If checked, sale tax will be charged on labor. Please refer to your local tax laws.

[edit] Service/Labor

Service Rate 
This amount will be charged per hour on workorders. Workorders can have durations set for performed labor. If the service rate is set, the workorder will automatically charge the service rate per hour of labor. Refer to the Creating A Work order section of the manual.

[edit] Product Labels

Title 
The selected field in the drop down will appear as the title on your product labels. If you select custom, any information in the custom field will be displayed on the label. For example if you select Shop Name the text you entered in the "Name" field will be used (this is the default selection).
Show MSRP 
If checked, product labels will also display Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) only if MSRP is higher than your sale price.

[edit] Phones

Only the phone field will appear on your receipt given to the customer. The other phone fields can help MerchantOS staff contact you.

The address information entered will be printed on your receipts.

[edit] Other

Website 
Your shops website. MerchantOS may link to your website from the MerchantOS website.
Email1 
An email address where MerchantOS may contact you.
Email2 
A second email address where MerchantOS may contact you.
Custom 
Any extra information you would like to store with your shop profile can go here. This field can also be printed on product labels.

[edit] Receipt Setup Tab

Header 
If you fill this field in it will replace your shop name, address, and phone number at the top of the receipt. It's useful if you want a slightly different version of your shop name and contact information to print on your receipts.
Footer 
A message you would like to have appear at the bottom of each receipt. This can be a coupon, return policy, or anything you want.
Workorder Agreement 
You can print a service agreement and have your customers sign it when leaving their item for repair. This is the agreement they would be signing to.
Credit Card Agreement 
This is the credit card agreement. This will only print on the merchant's copy of the receipt. This will only appear if you are processing your credit cards directly within MerchantOS. Refer to the Accepting Credit Cards section. You must have text in this field if you process credit cards through MerchantOS.

Press "Print Preview" to get a preview of what your receipt will look like. When you actually print the preview you'll get a store copy and a customer copy of the receipt. The store copy will contain the credit card agreement if you have entered one.

[edit] Registers Tab

You should add a register for each till (cash drawer) you would like to have tracked. The Basic version of MerchantOS is restricted to only one register. To add a register, type in the name of the register in the Name field then press Add Register.

[edit] Inventory Locations Tab

This is used to store common locations you keep inventory. You can delete locations from here by pressing the trash can icon beside the respective location. You can also create locations from this tab but you will probably find it easier to do so on the item details view. The drop down in the item details view has a selection to add a new location.
